CommUNITY

This community-initiated project started as part of the

"Healing our Highways" Initiative with Smart Growth America.

This project taps into the power of arts and culture to address challenges faced by communities affected by transportation infrastructure.

Our Project:

In Tampa Heights, a community facing rapid change and displacement, we are working to preserve a critical cultural and community hub. Led by Conscious Community Connectors and the Tampa Heights Junior Civic Association, our project brings together cultural preservation, artistic performances, and community activism to celebrate the neighborhood’s heritage while promoting resilience for the future.

Why This Matters:

At the core of this project is a dedication to community-led action and the preservation of cultural spaces. By honoring and protecting these spaces, we are building a more connected and sustainable future. Our work highlights the unique stories of Tampa Heights and offers residents the opportunity to play a leading role in shaping the community’s future.
